Around 250 flies, arachnids, dragonflies, beetles and centipedes were placed and glued with a special glue for entomologists in two showcases: The boxes are reminiscent of natural history or museum’s collections, which were fundamental for the creation of extensive taxonomies from the 18th century on. The animals were not expertly killed, but already collected in a dead state. The grid of the arrangement is in dissolution – common biological classification criteria are not recognizable anymore. In addition, the showcases were at the same time light boxes and the arthropods were illuminated from behind, which prevents their accurate viewing.
